John Parkinson recalls:
"I still have a photograph taken on the day the snow in June 91 stopped play. There was a Ladies match on the top green which was abandoned and an area final national game on the bottom green a young lad from Consett Park against a chap from York. All the members that were there including Brother Tommy helped clear the snow on the bottom green so that the area final match could be finished.
P.S. The game ended in glorious sunshine."
Jimmy Rogan has identified some of the people on the photos. Joe Conroy has the barrow, Alan Stephenson is using the shovel, and Jackie Rogan is standing in front of the green door.
Pat Armstrong played in the ladies match and recalls:
"The ladies match was between Consett Park's 'A' and 'B' teams in the Derwent Ladies League, hence being convenient to abandon and re-schedule. The match was played on the bottom green, where the men's game was also taking place. The bowls which are seen on the rink towards the right are just as we left them when the snow arrived! The green was cleared by Joe Conroy, Alan Stephenson and Tommy Parkinson, while almost everyone else watched.
I am fairly sure I can spot Alby Gowland (Ronny's dad) in the background, but can't swear to it."
