About Us

About Us

Consett Park Bowling Club is based in the lovely Blackhill & Consett Park on Laburnum Avenue in Blackhill.  It was founded in 1923 and many of the original members came via the inter-departmental competitions in the local iron works. Its current members come from all walks of life and enjoy the challenge and fun of the sport together with the social aspect.

The club is in six local leagues and we have internal competitions which is a great way for new and old players to be involved in the game. We provide informal sessions for new and improving players to practice in match conditions alongside some experienced players. Roll ups are a way for you to practice; it is informal and fun, allowing you to meet other players and improve your skills ready to enter the competitions.

History

The Club's history is available on this website; visit the History section to read all the details. We start in 1880 with discussions about plans for a public Park, cover the opening of the Park in 1891, the foundation of Consett Park Bowling Club in 1923, and continue to modern times.
